If you’re a UQ student, chances are you’ve heard whispers of the Nephilim, a cryptid-like creature that lives in the secret tunnels underneath the Great Court. The earliest recorded mention of the Nephilim in modern times comes from a post on the r/Brisbane subreddit, titled “Nephilim Under St Lucia” by user Watt073, dated two years ago. The post is tagged “Satire. Probably.” But is it satire? I certainly thought so until I came face to face with the creature.
It was a chilly Monday morning in the winter of 2023. Due to my crippling time anxiety, I arrived at my tutorial room one hour early. All the lights were off, which made the room look a bit spooky. I took a photo to share with my friends. That’s when I saw it.

Do you see it?
You’d think I’d be scared, but I was excited. You see, I am a connoisseur of freaky little guys, and seeing one in person was a dream come true. But it got me asking the question: Have there been other sightings of the Nephilim in images?
I got to digging, practically turning the UQ archives inside out, trying to find even a smidge of photographic evidence. Yes, there was the post the UQ Alumni made on Halloween, 2023, but those images were clearly photoshopped, and it was obvious that UQ was taking the piss out of a very real issue.
There wasn’t even a massive hole in the Great Court, I checked. Does UQ take us for fools?
After endless nights of searching, I came across some shocking evidence.

What else is UQ hiding from us?
Editor’s note: For legal reasons this is a joke.
