Cub Sport
Brisbane’s love child and alt-pop quartet Cub Sport is releasing their highly anticipated second album, bats, which will be released on the 22nd of September. This album is a beautiful mixture of a deeply personal but heart-wrenching gospel & RnB-inspired pop tune.
“In 2015 I went on a writing trip to LA and London – it felt like a big step towards ‘being a songwriter’ which is what I’d always wanted to do. I enjoyed getting to write and record with some really talented people but I was sad for most of my time away. I missed Bolan (Sam) so much and I was just asking myself the whole time, why am I putting myself through this?! It made me realise that I was in love with him which was equal parts exciting and distressing. I’d hardly come out to myself and the idea of coming out to anyone else was terrifying.” said Tim Nelson (Lead vocals, keyboard, and guitar).
Golden Vessel
2017 is the year for this Brisbane-based duo, now playing at BIGSOUND and supporting the Kite String Tangle nationally. But also releasing many new tracks and beautiful visual videos. The first two tracks from the EP, ‘Tell The-Girl’ feat. Emerson Leif and ‘Shoulders’ feat Elkkle and Mallrat have received high rotation on triple j and community radio, as well as accolades from local and international media. Ahead of the BIGSOUND 2017 showcase, we are rewarded with the third single and accompanying video, ‘Less~More’ feat. OKBADLANDS.
Polish Club
Get excited for the 1st of December when we will be visited by Polish Club. If that wasn’t enough premature festive joy for you, the pair has also locked in a run of early summer dates. They want you to come party in capital cities for the ‘Christmas In December’ tour, taking in dates with special guests West Thebarton.
Peking Duk remix Lorde
It might have been ages since the last time Peking Duk has remixed anything but they haven’t gone wrong. It might have been punching a little high to go after Lorde’s newest release but I don’t think we can fault them. The Canberra bangdaddyz have put their big electronic spin on no lesser-a-name than Lorde, following up the spunky funk of their 2017 AlunaGeorge-assisted ‘Fake Magic’ with a retooling of the Kiwi superstar’s Melodrama(tic) single ‘Perfect Places’.
