Dr Mary Mahoney AO Amphitheatre
The recently revitalised amphitheatre, nestled by the UQ lake, is the perfect place for a lunchtime picnic with friends, relaxing, reading a book, or catching up on some study! The area is also used for cultural activities, so if you’re lucky, you may catch a performance!
Café Nano

Open 7 am-4 pm Monday to Friday
If you ever have a gut-wrenching craving for a banh mi on campus, you’re in luck. The little-known café is located on the side of the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), near College Road. Few in the know make the trek across campus to Café Nano, meaning there are typically smaller lines, and the food and service are brilliant. While the banh mi is their highlight on the menu, they also serve coffee, milkshakes, toasties, and pastries. Go and say hello to the friendly staff!
UQ Lake

If you’re already visiting the amphitheatre, stretch your legs briefly and head down to the lake! The UQ lake is home to many insects and animals, so come down and see if you can spot the ducks and/or turtles– just please don’t feed them!
Study cubicles outside BEL building

Somewhere quiet to study with sunshine and a breeze… sounds like a dream, right? You’ll have to arrive on campus early to secure one of these spots, but the black study cubicles outside BEL building have become a student favourite for quiet study sessions.
Nap pods in the Biological Sciences Library

The nap pods at the Bio-Sci Library may seem like a bit of an urban legend, but they really do exist. Located on Level 2 of the library, these sleeping pods resemble an alien spaceship. However, these high-tech sleeping pods are apparently perfect for recharging your battery and are particularly useful as the library is open 24 hours a day.
